Known as the Blue Ridge Division, its device shows three hills, representing the Blue Ridge, one for each of the States which furnished the personnel of the division.


Nickname

"Blue Ridge" Division.

Background

National Army Division established by the War Department on 5 August 1917 to be established at Camp Lee, VA.  Draftees were from Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.  Movement overseas commenced on 17 May 1918 and was completed by 9 June 1918.
